BEHIND THE
MOVE.
From musical theatre to large-scale live entertainment, film and television, Marco Mercier has built a career defined by versatility, creativity and movement.
A Lisbon-based choreographer, movement director and dancer, Marco began his artistic journey in urban dance as the co-founder and choreographer of an award-winning competitive dance group. Today, his work spans a wide range of styles and formats, moving confidently between commercial dance, theatrical storytelling and ensemble choreography.
Throughout his career, Marco has brought his work to some of Portugal’s most prominent stages and major musical theatre and live entertainment productions, collaborating with leading figures in the country’s performing arts, including Filipe La Féria, João Baião and Ricardo Neves-Neves.
His credits include In the Heights, Carmen Miranda — O Grande Musical, Laura — O Musical, Severa and the feature film Parque Mayer. His choreography for Severa earned him the 2020 Guia dos Teatros Choreography Award.
With an academic background in engineering and data science, Marco brings an unusual combination of creative instinct, structure and curiosity to the rehearsal room. Whether working with a large ensemble or developing movement for a single performer, his focus is on creating work that feels natural, expressive and alive.
